Tenkara - Fly Patterns
What is Tenkara? Tenkara is a centuries-old Japanese method of fly fishing – reduced to the essentials: a rod, a line, a fly. No reel, no backing, no weight. Just the angler, the water, and the Kebari.
The Kebari – the Japanese fly Kebari (Japanese for "fly") are the traditional patterns of Tenkara. They do not imitate a specific insect species but rather attract through their lively movement in the water. The forward-facing hackle (Sakasa) is the hallmark of many Kebari patterns.
Our Patterns
- Ondori Futsū Kebari – Rooster hackle, tied straight
- Mendori Jun Kebari – Hen hackle, tied straight
- Mendori Sakasa Kebari – Hen hackle, tied forward (Sakasa)
- Honryu Kebari – for large waters and strong currents, with a bead head
